'Hi Tech' Meditation
For boomers, the first most of us ever heard about meditation was in the late 1960's when the Beatles began Transcendental Meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. We didn't know what it was all about but if the Beatles were doing it than it must have some significance.
Since that time hundreds of independent universities and research institutions in over forty countries have conducted scientific research studies into meditation. Much of this research has been published in leading scientific journals including The American Journal of Physiology, International Journal of Neuroscience, Psychosomatic Medicine, American Psychologist, and the Journal of Conflict Resolution. Meditation has provided researchers with subject matter for many decades documenting the effects of meditation on every area of life, including mind, body, behavior, and society.
The use of Meditation to alleviate suffering and promote healing has been known and practiced for thousands of years. Meditative techniques are the product of diverse cultures and peoples around the world. In fact, virtually all religions support the practice of some form meditation.
Over the years doctors have prescribed meditation as a way to lower blood pressure, improve exercise performance in people with angina, help people with asthma breathe easier, relieve insomnia and generally relax the everyday stresses of life.
I have personally experimented with meditation for thirty years. With all the distractions of children, work, home, sports, entertainment it is not easy to hold yourself to a regular meditation schedule. Most people actually find that it gets easier the longer you practice regularly but getting beyond the first week is difficult and beyond the first month even more difficult.
Recently we began a hi tech meditation program. This program has helped me break through the 'noise' of daily life and experience clear meditations in a very short time. We are not the first to feel the program is effective as many people have written personal testimonials to it.
This technique was developed after reading a research paper published in Scientific American (October 1973) by Dr. Gerald Oster, a research scientist at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York. This audio technology, when placed beneath soothing music and listened to with stereo headphones, produces incredible meditation experiences (and incredible benefits) for the listener:
* Profoundly deep meditation - the same states (in fact, even deeper) as those experienced by long-time meditators - creating true quantum leaps in brain function...
* Dramatic increases in the production of a whole variety of beneficial brain chemicals, including pleasure-causing endorphins - as well as a number of others proven to slow aging and increase longevity and well-being...
* Dysfunctional mental and emotional patterns (such as anger, fear, anxiety, sadness, substance abuse, self-limitations, etc.) fall away and eventually are permanently released - even those that have stubbornly resisted other methods...
* Learning ability increases, creativity goes way up, intuition increases, focus and concentration increase - and (even more amazing) personal self-awareness increases dramatically (scientists call this combination "whole brain functioning")...
* Stress levels go way down and the ability to deal calmly and clearly with whatever comes at you from the world goes way up. You become more relaxed, less anxious, more centered, more peaceful, and more connected to others...
* Achievement becomes easier, and without the same feelings of anxiety and stress.Taking the risks necessary for success don't seem so scary anymore. Good things begin to just "happen" in such a way they almost seem to fall right into your lap...
